Ukrainian Team

Here is the fourth and final clip from the Experience Ukraine DVD project. This gives a brief snapshot of just a few of the Ukrainian people we’ve partnered with there.

Please pray for the continued growth of these special leaders with the Ukrainian church. Many of these stories are of young, first-generation Christians. They quickly find themselves in roles that require God’s wisdom and direction daily. They have a challenge, and an opportunity. When you realise that most of these stories intrinsically tied to DBI, its role for leadership development becomes even more significant in Ukraine.

Esperanza Viva (Living Hope)

Ross and Mary in Ecuador passed along this little update that concerns their teenage daughter. For the last number of years she’s had a heart for the children in Ecuador, and has been involved in raising money to buy and donate Bibles to them. Others are catching this vision too! Recently money was raised by children in a US 5th grade class through a bake sale. The relationship between that class and the Quichua children they are helping has been fostered by sharing pictures of the Ecuadorian children with their new Bibles.

What an amazing insight into how God’s love works even in those so young! May the Lord bless the relationships that have been started in this.

Do you enjoy teaching? Interested in going overseas?

There is an increasing demand for teachers & staff for international schools. We know of two that need help! Black Forest Academy in Germany is looking for faculty, cooks, residence assistants, and dorm parents. And, Grace International School in Thailand needs Math, Science, and Music teachers for elementary, middle, and high school. If you’d like to find out more, visit our website.

Youth Missions

Every summer, for many years now, the EFCCM has sent a Youth Team to minister in Hermosillo, Mexico. It’s been an incredible way for the youth in our Free churches to experience life cross-culturally, “live and in person”. It’s also been a great way to give help to the long-term missionaries on the field for projects like construction and children’s ministry.

Unfortunately, we’ve had to cancel the trip for this summer. But, never fear, youth-focused short-term trips are something that the EFCCM Mobilization Department is hoping to do more of. If you are a youth, or know any youth that would be interested in experiencing missions first-hand, email lisab@efccm.org to be added to our mailing list. A short-term mission trip could be the beginning of a beautiful career for you!

I put together a few handy desktops for your use and enjoyment. Use these to show your love and devotion to the EFCCM blog, and get others to participate with what’s happening here!

Because they’re so bright yellow, I don’t expect you to keep them as your desktop forever. But if you can get one more person to visit the blog regularly, you’ll make me ever-so-happy! :-)

I’ve got mine up, and I’m going to keep it up as long as I can stand it!

Here they are at the three most common desktop sizes. Simply click on the one you want, when it opens in a browser right click on it, and click “set as desktop background.”

Update from Germany

Rich and Lynn are a couple serving with us in Black Forest Academy, in Germany. It’s a school primarily for MKs (missionary kids) and other international students. Rich and Lynn have been very involved in the administration for a number of years, and are currently serving as dorm directors there.

As BFA comes close to wrapping up for the year, they request prayer for the students and staff. This is when stress levels are high on both sides, and some of the most trying discipline issues come to the fore in the student body. So please pray for temperance, patience and wisdom.

With their daughters graduating from high school, and looking to settle in Canada, Rich and Lynn are seeking the Lord’s direction for the coming year(s). As they travel across Canada and the US during their upcoming Home Assignment, please pray that God would make the next step clear to them. At this point they are anticipating returning to Germany as dorm parents, but they will be actively seeking the Lord’s leading concerning the future.

Ukraine Construction Planning

As a follow-up to a previous post about Morning Star Church, there is currently a team from Langley Evangelical Free Church working with our colleagues and the local leadership in Ukraine to plan the next steps for construction there. They are well into the planning stages now, and are working to ensure that the construction project matches the perceived needs well.

We are hoping for big things for the new facilities! Please pray that there would be unity of vision and purpose(s) for this new building, and that progress would be as swift and efficient as things move forward. There will be lots of administrative details to be ironed out, and this represents a significant financial investment as well!

Radio in Bolivia

Something that I’m going to be blogging about more in the near future is the EFCCM’s radio ministry. For years we’ve partnered with thriving radio organisations and we have a number of people serving in several countries, especially in Latin America. Bolivia is home to one of the most significant ministry opportunities. The following is lifted from the report of one of our couples there.

“Besides broadcasting on two RTM (Radio Trans Mundia) radio stations, the RTM office staff in Santa Cruz prepare and send out more then 1,000 Christian Radio Programs to 104 Radio Stations in 9 different departments of Bolivia. 45 stations are secular commercial stations and 59 are religious stations, including several Catholic stations. The Praise item is that they air all these programs FREE on their stations. Presently Bolivian radio stations are broadcasting RTM programs an average of 520 hours per week (emphasis mine -ed.).

“Dr Antonio prepares & packages all these Spanish programs once a month which include; Women of Hope, Luis Palau, through the Bible, Grace to you, Mini Bible College of the Air, TWR Youth and Children’s programs. These programs are sent out by bus, train, taxi, courier and even hand delivered, because the mail service is almost nonexistent. Dr Antonio also goes and visits all these radio stations personally. He just came back from a trip and told us testimony after testimony how the stations appreciate the Christian programs.”

As I develop this story, one of those things I’ll be concentrating on is those testimonies. I want to show how God is working to change lives and build his church over the radio waves!

Responses having been steadily coming in for Peter’s Philpott’s memorial fund, called the St. Petersburg Resource Fund. A warm thank you to those who have given so generously. This money will be used to encourage and develop further ministry in Russia to continue Peter’s legacy there. If you would like to make a contribution to that fund, you can donate online here (please include account number 2-4375). Or you can contact us if you’d like to contribute in some other way.

As summer approaches, please remember to keep the Russia Summer Institute team in your prayers. This will be the first time in many years that Peter will not be a part of it, and he will be missed.
