Vision and Purpose
Vision and Purpose of the Evangelical Free Church of Canada
The term Evangelical refers to our commitment to the proclamation of the Gospel and to the authority of Scripture as being inerrant in the original writings and the only safe guide for faith and practice.
The term Free refers to our form of church government as being congregational, depending upon the active participation of believers for decisions and directions.
Purpose Statement
“To glorify God by serving in the birth and growth of healthy churches across Canada and around the world.”
The phrase “birth of” implies a refocusing on church planting as well as church health.

1. Prayer dependent – teaching, facilitating, and experiencing vital, deep, and ongoing communication with God in our individual churches and all ministry teams, in order to receive vision, energize mission, and guide in strategic planning. (Col 4:2, Eph 6:18)
2. Leadership equipped – actively involved in recruiting, educating, and empowering effective God-gifted leaders throughout all ministries of the EFCC. (2 Tim 2:1-3)
3. Body life focused – made up of spiritually nurturing communities, effective at equipping and employing God’s people and enhancing the full body life of the local church through all EFCC ministries. (1 Cor 12:12-28, Rom 12:4-8)
4. Team interdependent – made up of international, national, district, and local teams that work together, jointly owning a shared vision that directs and informs planning at every level. (Eph 4:11-16)
5. Financially healthy – have in place an effective financial strategy, being administered by a stewardship director, that provides adequate support for our ministries and offers timely and effective financial services to all segments of the EFCC. (Matt 25:14-30, Gal 6:6)
6. Growth oriented – increasing both nationally and internationally by evangelizing, making disciples and planting of churches that reflect the ethnic diversity of their own context. (Matt 28:19-20, Acts 2)
